Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull

  • October 26, 2008

Although it carries a certain level of slickness to it, Kingdom of the Crystal Skull shows that although the times have changed – both in the film and for the viewing audience – Indiana Jones hasn’t. And that’s a problem.

Beetlejuice

  • October 24, 2008

With its sophisticated yet accessible blend of comedy and the macabre, I knew Beetlejuice was likely to be one of those films I would never tire of. But a classic? It’s been 20 years. I’m willing to throw that blue ribbon on it.

Lewis Black’s Root of All Evil – Uncensored

  • October 5, 2008

So what is the most evil thing to ever grace the universe? Osama Bin Laden? Adolf Hitler? Wal-mart? Spam “meat”? They all have their bad points but there’s so much[…]

The Godfather Part III

While it’s better than your average film in a lot of respects, it simply cannot hold up to the legacy of its predecessors.

The Godfather Part II

Coppola offers a rich and layered look at family and does so with an incredible cast and a meticulous amount of detail.

Transformers Animated: Season One

  • September 5, 2008

Although there are many familiar elements, the overall look and feel of Transformers Animated is very different from the original show. It’s not all a bad thing just as long as I remember that I’m no longer the target audience.

John Oliver: Terrifying Times

  • September 4, 2008

What Oliver has to say might not be the most comforting, but rather than stating the potentially inevitable as a doomsday scenario, he makes it funny, enlightening and educational.

Camp Rock

  • September 3, 2008

The Disney tween machine continues to plug along mixing sugar-pop ballads with the simple structure of summer camp in Camp Rock. The familiarity makes for something comfortable, nothing spectacular, but mindlessly enjoyable.

Gossip Girl: The Complete First Season

Hopefully some of that edge returns as the show moves forward and Gossip Girl can return to its bad but addictive ways.
