As an action movie, Quantum of Solace is solid, albeit nothing memorable. But this is James Bond.

With its subject matter, it could have easily delved into the depths of a TV movie of the week filled with melodramatics and distant characterizations.

At its simplest, it’s a gorgeous film with beautiful period costumes and intricate set designs. However, something tells me that’s not the level director Saul Dibb wanted to achieve greatest on.
